Phosphorus is found in all cells and is a key factor in the growth and maintenance of cells and tissues and in energy production. It also helps in the formation of cell membranes, DNA, and RNA.

Signs of Deficiency: Signs of phosphorus deficiency include fatigue, loss of appetite, weakness, bone pain, reduced bone mineralization, and muscle tremors. People most likely to be deficient in phosphorus are those who take large amounts of aluminum-containing antacids, and people who have kidney or liver disorders, any condition that hinders metabolism of vitamin D, or alcoholism.
